Race the Lake 2018 – 88 Miles Around Lake Winnebago!

Race the Lake 2018 Race the Lake 2018 is the 11th annual return of the popular bike race around majestic Lake Winnebago. August 26, 2018.

Race the Lake is an annual bike race that, despite it’s 88-mile length, attracts bicyclists of all skill levels, pro to beginner. Past year’s courses have even reached lengths of 100 miles. Much of the attraction can be attributed to the beautiful scenery found along the shores of Lake Winnebago.

The race starts in Fond du Lac and heads north along the west side of Lake Winnebago, running through Oshkosh, Neenah, Menasha, and Appleton. The halfway point at High Cliff State Park sees the course turn south south down Lake Winnebago’s eastern shore. The course then takes the riders through Calumetville, Marytown, and St. Peter, to finish up at Fond du Lac’s Lakeside Park.

As you can imagine, the course is very scenic. Lots of lush greenery, mammoth views of Lake Winnebago, and plenty of fresh country air. Fond du Lac’s 400-acre Lakeside Park is great for a visit, too. The park has a walk-up lighthouse, marina, pedal boat rentals, picnic area, zip line, concessions, and more.

Cyclists can race as individuals or as part of a relay team. Relay teams are a great way for family or friends to participate as a group, with each cyclist picking up a leg of 8 miles to 21 miles.

All Race the Lake participants receive a Dri-wick shirt, goody bag, with food stations and Hammer Gel available along the course. After the race, riders will receive a finisher’s medal and a hand-crafted beer from Appleton’s historic Stone Arch brewpub. Cash prizes of up to $1,000 will be awarded to the winners of each division.
