IT HAS COME TO OUR ATTENTION THAT, ACCORDING TO A NOTICE ON THE EVENT SITE,
THE 2018 OSHKOSH JAZZ FESTIVAL MEETS THE ARTS HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 17, 2019.
Enjoy an afternoon and evening of beautiful art, good food, and live jazz at the first annual Oshkosh Jazz Festival Meets The Arts. Saturday, August 18th, 2018, 12pm to 7:45pm in William Steiger Park.
Oshkosh Jazz Festival Meets The Arts is designed around Oshkosh’s vibrant art scene. The festival will include an art exhibition and sale as well as an evening of live jazz. This unique combination of art and jazz was organized by the Cultural Fine Arts and Jazz Society of Oshkosh in conjunction with Jambalaya Arts.
The event will take place in the new extension of William Steiger Park, near the old Boatworks. Vendors will have food and drink for sale with nearby restaurants providing further alternatives.
Art at Oshkosh Jazz Festival
The art show and sale begin at noon and includes work by artists from around the country. You’ll have the opportunity to peruse the art, meet some of the artists, and maybe buy a piece or two.
The festival also includes live painting by artists from the concurrent Oshkosh Plein Air Festival. Plein Air artists will work along the Oshkosh Riverwalk, starting from the bridge near Campbell Road and on down to the main venue. Watch paintings come to life before your eyes!
Jazz at Oshkosh Jazz Festival
The Oshkosh Jazz Festival Meets The Arts concert begins at 3pm. This first year’s lineup includes three exciting jazz trailblazers: Monty Alexander, Othello Molineaux, and Rose Max.
Monty Alexander, originally from Jamaica, is one of the top jazz pianists of all time. There’s even a jazz festival named in his honor – Monty Alexander Jazz Festival.
Othello Molineaux is known for helping to introduce steel drums to the jazz world. Originally from Trinidad-Tobago, Molineaux is a master of the steel drums and has performed with Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius, Dizzy Gillespie, Ahmad Jamal, McCoy Tyner, and many others.
Rose Max, a husband and wife team from Brazil, have won many awards. Rose is a 7 time recipient of the “Best Female Brazilian singer residing in the USA” award. Her husband, Ramatis, has won as the “Best Brazilian Producer and Musician.
