Come Out for Oshkosh Docktoberfest 2018!
Oshkosh Docktoberfest 2018 is 2 days of events and activities celebrating both German culture and the culmination of summer. Attendees can expect a wealth of attractions to choose from, including four live bands, 2K bier run, fish fry, contests, and more. Best of all, 100% of the event’s proceeds go towards the Boys and Girls Club of Oshkosh.
The event is held at the Dockside Tavern‘s Festival Hall on the Fox River. This venue is perfect for enjoying live music and the sights and sounds of the scenic Fox River. They even have 12 slips available if you come by water instead of land!
Highlights of Oshkosh Docktoberfest 2018
Fish Fry – The whole shebang begins with a massive Fish Fry at 4pm on Friday, presented by The Roxy Supper Club. The event continues until the fish runs out. The Polka Dots, Tuba Dan, and The Copper Box Band will provide the entertainment.
Tapping the Ceremonial Bier Keg – The Fish Fry may start off the weekend but the tapping of the keg kicks off Oshkosh Docktoberfest officially. Oshkosh Mayor Steve Cummings will do the honors.
2K Bier Run – The 2K Bier Run on, makes two laps along the Oshkosh Riverwalk with beer stops at Dockside Tavern, Becket’s, and the Ground Round. The race starts on Saturday at 2pm on the Oregon Street bridge. Pre-register online by September 10th. Participants will receive a 2K Bier Run t-shirt.
Contests Oshkosh Docktoberfest also includes a variety of challenges and contests.
There’s a Costume Contest, a Frankfurter Eating Contest, and even a Masskrugstemmen! What’s a Masskrugstemmen, you ask? Why, it’s a Steinholding Contest, of course. Competitors see who among them can straight arm a full, one-liter beer stein, the longest – a traditional Bavarian contest. Oshkosh Docktoberfest also hosts the annual Wisconsin Cornhole Tourney.
Live Entertainment – This year’s bands include The Copper Box Band, the Jerry Schneider Band, Gary’s Ridgeland Dutchmen, and Star Six Nine.
