Notes From You!

Our Guest Book contains a lot of love. So many of our guests take the time to leave their impressions of the house and their stay. While some guests like to browse and look for where previous guests come from and we use it to make sure we are providing a comfortable and memorable get-away, no one else ever sees these gems. So we decided to share!

Rachel & Jonathan E wrote "Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my great-great grandmother's house!"

We thought this should be our first of the love notes we share, as it probably has the most connected history to it. Rachel's great-great grandmother was one of the previous owners, whom the Belle Suite is named after. In 1928, Hannah Goodwin purchased what is now The Braywood Inn. Affectionately known as “Belle,” she added both front and side porches, converting the house into a men's boarding facility that she named “Bachelor’s Hall.”

For those moments when you want to eat something quick on the go, want something to enjoy outside on a blanket, or just need a break from cooking, going out is always a great, convenient option. Oshkosh is home to several noteworthy restaurants that have found ways to pack up their menu so that you can eat it when and where you want. Here at Braywood Inn we’ve compiled a list of our favorite restaurants as well as our specific recommendations for what to get. Happy eating!

Truffle Pig

Our favorite dining room is sure to impress! From the fabulous chandeliers to the checkerboard patterned flooring, there is nothing not to like about how this dining room feels. The Truffle Pig's food is authentic Italian cuisine with a team of servers just waiting to address every need. Reservations suggested.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday: 4-9pm
Friday & Saturday: 4-10pm

Sunday Brunch: 10am-2pm

Gardina's

Gardina's is a well established dinging experience with large windows and original local art pieces adorning their dining room. The food is fresh, eclectic and delicious. Check in back at their market with wine, beer, and spirits.

In our opinion, you can't go wrong with the menu at Beckett's . It’s hands-down our favorite locally sourced food restaurant in Wisconsin. It’s hard to pick just a few recommendations, but if we had to we would say go for the tenderloin lollipops, salmon cakes, and cheesecake. The fire place and live jazz performances on the river view can't be beat. Check out their nightly specials and happy hour.

Boutique style lodging...what is it?

Boutique style lodging is a new term for the traditional bed and breakfast concept. While a traditional bed and breakfast offers a hot usually homemade breakfast daily a boutique inn such as the Braywood offers a continental breakfast. Our continental breakfast usually includes muffins, cereals, coffee, tea, biscotti, madelines, fresh fruit, jellies and cheeses. We are in the process of offering a homemade hot breakfast once a month as an add on service or option to guests...so stay tuned for updates : ) Tickets can be purchased for "Brunch at the Braywood" as we call it on our website or social media soon!

Oshkosh Farmers Market

Ranked as one of the best 101 farmers markets in America for 5 years running, the Oshkosh Farmers Market is the place to go when you want a true taste of the town. You’ll find everything from Wisconsin grown fruits and vegetables to homemade jams and jellies to fresh-cut flowers.

The Who, What, & Where

For over 20 years, downtown Oshkosh has connected the community with local farmers and purveyors through the Oshkosh Farmers Market. During the summer and autumn months, the Farmers Market takes over Main Street every Saturday from 8 am to 12:30 pm. The market runs all the way from the beginning of June through the end of October. During the winter, you can still find a wide selection of local goodies on select Saturdays at the Oshkosh Convention Center.

This 4th generation farm has mastered the art of farm-fresh produce. You’ll find everything you want (and more) at this stand. Thunderbird Bakery :

Your nose will lead you right up to the Thunderbird Bakery booth where a wide selection of delicate pastries and fresh-baked loaves of bread awaits you. Pick up a loaf to accompany a picnic board or a flaky croissant for a mid-morning treat.

Tietz Family Farm

The. Best. Popcorn. Ever.

This summer make a trip to the Oshkosh Farmers Market to fill up on picnic supplies, local produce, and all of the best items that Oshkosh has to offer. The market is filled with local restaurants serving up their most popular menu items so pick up a couple of staples from each for a fun lunch.
